LO5 - Editing cinematic footage

Image
LO5.1 Final Film: https://youtu.be/uSq94Gre-pQ I added a variety of post-production modifications to the film while editing the footage. The initial step was to add the two boxes and the title name, which would explain what our short film was about while also zooming in on the location. These boxes would not display at first, but would appear once the video began to play. This was accomplished by modifying their transparency. This meant that as the film progressed and the volume increased, they would gradually fade out before fading back in to give a more cinematic effect. There were also two videos that required to be used in this initial segment that included unnecessary background noise. This means it had to be taken out so that several sounds weren't layered on top of one other. This was accomplished by selecting the relevant video and then selecting the audio in Premier Pro. After that, I went to the SFX settings, where you can either add sound effects or adjust the volu...

LO4 - Rushes

LO4.1 LO4.2  In this documentary we followed the same conventions that all documentaries use. All documentaries uses fact and figure which is what we also did for our documentary. All the information for our documentary is checked so that all the facts that are mentioned are 100 percent truthful so that nobody can get offended. When presenting the documentary we followed how others are presented and spoke to the camera to make it as direct as possible. We used natural light to film at the location of where Beverley Allitt is being held currently. This is due to the entirety of the documentary being filmed outside so using any types of artificial lighting would be impractical as it wouldn't do anything. Also there will be panoramic shots which are found in many documentaries to break up the talking and make it more engaging. In this documentary we will follow the conventions that others follow such as using images of the victims as well as images of the places that are to do with th...

LO3 - Be able to plan and record for cinematic quality

Image
LO3.1 When at the mental institute we will change the ISO to make sure that the lighting is perfect in the documentary. We will not be using any lighting as the natural lighting will be bright enough so that the audience will be able to see the subject with the hospital in the background. If the lighting is too dark however, we will increase the aperture so that the light going into the lenses is enough and the subject isn't over exposed. This will drastically to change the lighting and improve the quality of a camera footage for our documentary. Which will make it easier and better for the audience to watch it as it will be in a good quality. I will also change the aperture for a similar reason as if there is too much light going into the background. We will be taking a tripod as well as a microphone so that the camera is stable when it is recording. The microphone will be used so that we won't need to use the inbuilt microphone and the external microphone will have better cov...

LO1 - Camera equipment

Image
The ISO has been altered in these photographs to generate light and dark images, which will aid us in filming our documentary because if the sun is too bright, we can lower it so that less light passes through the lens. Also, if we are filming at night, we can increase the ISO to allow more light to get through the lens, resulting in a much brighter video. For our documentary we needed to focus on the ISO and Aperture on the camera as well as this would mean that the subject in the documentary is clearly visible as we would not be letting too much light into our camera which is what would have happened if we had not checked and changed the settings. When changing location we then also had to change the ISO and aperture due to the sun being at a different angle so the camera was letting too much light into the camera. In these videos it shows that we know how to manipulate the settings to get the desired affect on the camera. It also shows how we can use the attachments in ...
